Benadryl Cough Formula syrup belongs to a class of medicines called ‘expectorants’ used to treat cough. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body’s way of clearing irritants (such as allergens, mucus or smoke) from the airways and preventing infection.
Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup is a combination of four medicines, namely: ammonium chloride (expectants), diphenhydramine hydrochloride (antihistamine), sodium citrate (mucolytic), and ethanol.

Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup may interact with a blood thinner (warfarin), antibiotic (chloramphenicol), medicines containing propantheline or metoclopramide, and anticonvulsants (pregabalin).
Drug-Food Interaction: Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid the consumption of alcohol with Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup as it may increase the risk of adverse effects such as drowsiness or dizziness.
Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have asthma, pneumonia, glaucoma, epilepsy, bladder problems (urinary retention), prostate problems, or liver or kidney disease, inform your doctor before taking Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup.
